Love Parks Week 2023

This year, Love Parks week ran from 28 July to 6 August.

More than 500 local authorities and other landowners signed up to take part in Love Parks Week - our annual campaign celebrating parks, green spaces, and the dedicated volunteers and workers that look after them all year round.

This Love Parks Week, parks across the nation have been abuzz with activity - with visitors building bug hotels, trying tai chi, and enjoying live music in their local green spaces.

These vibrant, living spaces bring communities together and provide an opportunity to connect with nature in the heart of our cities, towns, and neighbourhoods.

Thank you for helping to bring Love Parks Week to life in 2023.

Love Parks Week 2023 was made possible thanks to the players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

Safer Parks for Everyone

Love Parks Week been has also an opportunity to investigate some of the issues around our parks.

Following research revealing that 3.5 million women in the UK - around 13% - are put off using parks over fears around safety, we supported researchers at Leeds University as they produced guidance on how to make parks safer for women and girls.

In a survey of local authorities we work with, almost half agreed that the issue of women's/girl's safety has been discussed in relation to the green space they look after, but 67% said funding or finances remain an obstacle to take action.

So we called on the government to contribute new funding to parks and green spaces to focus on design and management with accessibility for women and girls in mind, and over 100 supporters have joined our call - using our e-lobbying tool to urge their local MPs to lend their support.
